Before traveling, visitors should review the following entry requirements and travel information to ensure a smooth arrival.

Visa Options

Visa on Arrival
Available at major international airports and many land border crossings.

  • Valid for 30 days

  • Can usually be extended while in Laos

  • Visa fee: typically between $30 ~ $45 USD (IN CASH!) depending on your nationality and point of entry

E-Visa (Online Application)
Travelers may apply online, the official Lao e-visa portal before arrival through the official Lao e-visa system.

  • Processing usually takes 3–5 working days

  • Accepted at selected international entry points

Visa Exemptions
Some nationalities may enter Laos without a visa for a limited stay depending on bilateral agreements. Travelers should check the latest regulations before departure.

China: 15-day visa-free travel for Chinese group tours organized by licensed agencies.

Lao Digital Arrival Form (LDIF)

Since September 2025, Laos has introduced a Digital Immigration Form to simplify entry procedures. Travelers may be required to complete the arrival form online or at the immigration checkpoint when entering the country.
